MediaCAT enhanced its project management capabilities with the introduction of third-party drive integrations, starting with Google Drive. This new feature streamlines the project creation process for both Projects & Tools by allowing users to link multiple Google Drives to their MediaCAT accounts. Now, users can directly access media and subtitle files from their linked Google Drives, eliminating the need to transfer files to a local directory first.

How to Link Google Drive Accounts

To utilize Drive Integration, users must first link their Google Drive accounts to MediaCAT. This can be done by accessing the "Linked Drives" page, which is available through either the Workspace menu or the User Preferences menu. Users can link multiple Google Drives here and give them each a nickname for the easier drive management experience.

After successfully linking the drives, users can manage them by editing the nicknames or deleting them, if necessary. Simply, click on the drive you would like to manage.

How to Import from Linked Drives

At this stage, users will have the option to upload files directly from their linked Google Drives during the project creation process. Selecting 'Linked Drive' will open a Google Drive browsing modal, allowing the users to search and select files to upload.

MediaCAT's Google Drive Browsing UI mirrors the actual Google Drive interface to provide a familiar experience. Users can navigate and upload files from both 'My Drive' and 'Shared with Me'. For quicker access to the desired directory, users can search for keywords to quickly locate the right folders and files.

Once the desired files are located, simply select them and click ‘Select' at the bottom to incorporate them into the project creation process. Users can upload and create projects with up to 25 media files and 25 transcript files in a single batch.
